We accepted the invitation of Amalgame magazine to create an original interactive installation whose theme was "public expression". It was shown on the Place Fernand Lafargue in Bordeaux, on Friday 28 May 2010.
Based on the sending SMS messages through mobile phones, Expression is a collaborative typographic installation dedicated to the public expression. It uses the surface and the architecture of two walls as the communication medium.
Sent messages travel all along the first wall, which is a representation of individual expression. Then, they are gathered on the second wall which symbolizes the collective voice. Received messages during the installation period feed a structure which represents the lexical synthesis of individual writings.
The sound installation was performed by Splank Studio.
